On July 18th, the 9th Congress of Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce (General Chamber of Commerce) was held at Shenzhen Hall. The congress reviewed and adopted the work report of the 8th Executive Committee (Council), and elected the 9th Executive Committee (Council). Zhang Chunhua, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of China Brilliant Group, was elected Chairman of the 9th Executive Committee (Council) of Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce (General Chamber of Commerce).

Qin Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, attended the congress. Feng Riguang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Full-time Vice Chairman of Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce, leading officials of Shenzhen including Wang Qiang, Gao Shengyuan and Qiao Hengli, as well as Lu Wenpeng, Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, were present. A total of 600 participants including representatives from the industrial and commercial community and persons-in-charge of various industrial and commercial social organizations attended the congress, and responsible persons of relevant municipal departments of Shenzhen attended as non-voting delegates.

All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce specially sent a congratulatory letter to the congress. Qiao Hengli, Vice Chairman of Shenzhen Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of China National Democratic Construction Association, delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of all democratic parties and the Intellectuals Association, and Li Hongbing, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of people’s organizations.

In his speech, Qin Weizhong emphasized that Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce should adhere to building the chamber based on politics, consolidating it through unity, developing it by providing services and strengthening it via reform, continuously create a new situation for the work of the federation, and make new and greater contributions to Shenzhen’s resolute efforts to take the lead and act as a pacesetter in the great practice of advancing Chinese path to modernization.

Feng Riguang and Wang Qiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department, delivered speeches respectively, hoping that Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce would consolidate the ideological foundation, enhance the capacity of political guidance, and earnestly build a “Home for Private Economic Practitioners” with sincere dedication.

In his inaugural speech, Zhang Chunhua stated that he would adhere to advancing the development of the federation’s cause with a holistic vision, strategic perspective and systematic thinking in the future. Centering on the development needs of the private economy and private enterprises in the whole city, he will extensively connect and link private economic practitioners, give full play to the enthusiasm, initiative and creativity of every individual, let them take the forefront and act as the main players, and gather tremendous impetus for the work of the federation in the new era.

At the congress, on behalf of the newly elected federation, Zhang Chunhua issued the Initiative for Private Enterprises to Boost Shenzhen’s High-Quality Development to the majority of private enterprises and entrepreneurs. The initiative called on all to uphold the aspiration of serving the country and strive to be “city partners”; focus on development with wholehearted dedication and courageously be “forerunners of the times”; operate in compliance with laws and in good faith and resolve to be “practitioners of integrity”; and promote common prosperity through the prosperity of the advanced and willingly be “philanthropists of society”.
